Serendipitous - fortunate discoveries by accident

So I just asked my 21 year old son about the word serendipity. He said it sounded stupid. I like the sound of the word and the term serendipitous. Words that are hard to describe interest me. I love words. I love how some words make your mouth feel - a term that is used by food critics, can also apply here. Any word that makes your mouth move in a way that resembles kissing feels good. According to the freedictionary.com, serendipitous means:
ser·en·dip·i·ty
n. pl. ser·en·dip·i·ties
1. The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident.
2. The fact or occurrence of such discoveries.
3. An instance of making such a discovery.

Science and serendipity have changed the world and saved people's lives! Being serendipitous in the kitchen has not saved anyone's life yet, but it has also not killed anyone... that I know about. It has saved my life from boring recipe books and bland meals. Few things in life bring as much pleasure to me, as the flavour and artful presentation of fine food.

I think this is a fine start to my day. Now it is time for breakfast and the fact that I have few ingredients in my fridge, at end of week, shall force my serendipitous hand indeed.

Ciao fellow food lovers!
